EXTREME SUPERCARS | Neveling Powers His Audi R8 to Overall Victory at High-Speed East London Grand Prix Circuit

Stradale Motorsport's Arnold Neveling won the overall Extreme Supercars - Driven by Dunlop round at the weekend, following a win and runner-up finish in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO. Competing at the historic East London Grand Prix Circuit, 34-year-old Neveling put in another impressive drive to record back-to-back overall victories and remain in the hunt for the class and overall championship titles. Neveling has won

Following a shortened but solid day of practice on Friday, the Goscor Lift Trucks-backed driver took the Audi through its paces around South Africa's fastest circuit. Neveling qualified second on the grid on Saturday morning, which would see the Johannesburg driver start from the less-favoured side of the grid. Following the customary rolling start, Neveling would draw alongside his competitor before backing off ahead of the fastest curve in South Africa, Potters Pass, which sees drivers exceed well over 220 km/h. He would maintain that position throughout the race to finish as runner-up.

Race 2 was a similar affair. While Neveling and the Bobcat-One Tough Animal liveried Audi was much closer to the leader this time, Neveling remained patient. Following the leader's retirement, Neveling secured another victory for the Audi to top the overall standings on the day. With that, he has won four out of the last five races.

"Very pleased with another victory and the overall win. The car performed exceptionally well again this weekend. The Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO is well-designed and is well-balanced. As a driver, this gives me the confidence to push the car's limits. This circuit also offers everything from high-speed straights and fast-sweeping bends to low-speed technical corners. At the same time, the Audi generates enough mechanical grip in the slower corners but also has an excellent aero package that suits the speeds we achieve through some of the fastest sweeps in South Africa here in East London. Driving the car around this track is an absolute pleasure," said Neveling.

While the championship takes a short break, Round 7 will return to the Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town on 20-21 September.

Neveling thanks Goscor Lift Trucks, Stradale Motorsport, Pagid Racing SA and Motorsport Fanatix.
