KARTING | Chiwara Set for Junior MAX Season Debut

Following the start of the karting season up north, all eyes turn to the Western Cape this weekend and the MSA Western Cape Regional Karting Championship. Killarney Kart Circuit once again plays host to the championship that will see a variety of Rotax and Vortex-powered classes fill the grid, including Matthew Chiwara, whom this season steps up to the larger Junior MAX class.

Chiwara has been somewhat of a revelation since joining the ANGRi Racing outfit, where he started at the ANGRi Racing Kart Academy, South Africa’s leading karting academy. Under the professional guidance of former drivers and current motorsport champions, Chiwara performed admirably in the 2022 regional season, recording 18 podiums, including a win, and is looking to continue his rise in the sport. Chiwara also enjoys Sodi Karts's backing as an official driver for a second season.

“Another season lies ahead, and we’re itching to get out there. With so much racing throughout the year, including practice and national races, the wait for the start of a new season is always unbearably long. We’ve prepared as well as possible, and the team and I are ready for a new challenge. Backed by my team at ANGRi Racing, I’m pretty confident we can have a strong season,” said Chiwara.

A full racing programme is expected, with a Warm-up Session preceding Qualifying. Three race heats will then determine the overall winners on the day.
