KARTING | De Wet Confident Heading into Rotax Finale

As the South African Rotax MAX Challenge season draws to a close, the anticipation is high as Luhan De Wet, with his sights set on another national title, returns to his home circuit at Zwartkops Kart Raceway, Pretoria.

A rookie in the super competitive Micro MAX class in 2024, the Centurion resident is no stranger to the winner's circle having won numerous races on his way to claiming the 2023 National Cadet title and finishing as the 2023 National Bambino Vice-Champion. While his 2024 season did not get off to an ideal start, the Xtreme Racing Team driver took the overall spoils in the last round at Formula-K Raceway with a dominant driving display, earning him his first win.

Luhan is in fourth place in the championship standings, trailing the leader by 28 points. He acknowledges that he will need to give it his all to have a shot at winning the championship. Despite the tough challenge ahead, he remains confident in his abilities. He said, "I'm a racer, and I'm here to win. If not, I'd be wasting my parents' money. When I'm on the track, my goal is to finish first. I believe I can win. I have no doubt in my mind. I have been blessed with talent, and I intend to make the most of it."

The event starts with practice on Thursday, followed by Qualifying and the first heats on Friday afternoon. The excitement continues on Saturday, the final day of the national championship, with three more heats before the 2024 champions are crowned, allowing them to compete at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Italy.

Spectators are welcome to attend, and entry is free of charge. The action will, however, be live-streamed on the SA Rotax MAX Challenge YouTube channel below:
