KARTING | Third for Cape Town’s Lingeveldt in National Bambino Champs

The South African Rotax MAX Challenge Kart Championships concluded this weekend, and Capetonian Caleb Lingeveldt claimed an impressive third in this year's Bambino Championship, a highly competitive category for young drivers. Finishing in sixth at the weekend's finale round at Zwartkops Kart Raceway, Caleb showed much progress and maturity as a driver competing in his first full national season.

Caleb headed into this weekend on the back of a solid outing at Formula-K Raceway, where he clinched the overall day following a double heat victory. This weekend, however, would be more challenging. After qualifying in seventh, the WPMC Karting member made up several positions to finish just off the podium in fourth on Friday afternoon.

Saturday's Heat 2 saw Caleb once again demonstrating his skill, fighting his way back up the order after dropping to eighth to finish fifth. In Heat 3, he faced a tougher challenge and had to settle for seventh after starting fifth. The final heat was another opportunity for Caleb to show his perseverance, making up a few positions to end sixth and be classified sixth overall on the day. He finished his national season, claiming three wins and two further podiums, a testament to his unwavering spirit.

While the national season might have ended, the excitement continues with the Western Province Karting Championships. The next event is set to take place at Killarney on 14 September, where we can expect to see Caleb back in action, ready to showcase his skills once again.
