FORMULA 1600 | Ensor-Smith Aiming for Maiden Win and Reduce Gap to Championship Leader

Investchem Formula 1600 Championship contender KC Ensor-Smith will return this weekend as the fourth round of South Africa's premier single-seater competition heads to the coastal city of Gqeberha.

Ranked second in the championship and eight points adrift of the leader, Ensor-Smith hopes his second visit to the Aldo Scribante Racetrack in as many years will see him claim his maiden victory, having recorded several (four) runner-up finishes this season. The circuit known for its elevation changes, sweeping bends, and twisty layout will see a line of single-seat cars battling it out for South African motorsport's biggest payout that sees an R200 000 cash prize and a South African Touring Car test for the winner. At the same time, the runner-up takes home R100 000 and the third-placed driver, R50 000.

"I'm eager to get behind the wheel again after a month away. Last year, I could fill up the time with karting, but as we decided to concentrate on circuit racing this season, there are many more weekends off; something I still need to get used to. But our preparations have gone well and we're confident that we can continue our charge at the title. I'd also like to get that first win so I'll be pushing hard this weekend," said Ensor-Smith.

The 16-race program on Saturday will start at 10:10. Spectator tickets can be bought at the Aldo Scribante Racetrack entrance gate for R100 per person. Children under 12 can enter for free.
