KARTING | Former Bambino Antunes Ready to Take on Kid ROK’s Best

Diego Antunes Claimed the MSA Northern Regions Regional Bambino Karting Championship in 2022

Reigning 2022 MSA Northern Regions Regional Bambino Karting Champion Diego Antunes will take on a new challenge this season as he competes in the competitive Kid ROK class as part of the MSA Northern Regions Regional ROK Karting Championship hosted at the Formula-K Kart Circuit, Benoni.

Antunes, who competed at every Bambino event in 2022, finished the season as the champion in the MSA Northern Regions Karting Championship. He made 21 starts recording 14 victories and five runner-up finishes. In the Gauteng Kart Championships, he made as many starts but took four wins, five second-place finishes and five third-place results. The 2023 season will see the Johannesburg driver compete in the regional and national championships backed by TrevPar World and Cars.co.za once again.

“It’s going to be another exciting season, I believe. While we will race less this season, competing only in Kid ROK, I will be battling some familiar faces. Uncle Derek is supporting me again, and we’ll also be competing with the help of Uncle Neil. Thank you to them for everything they do, not forgetting my mom and dad. Wishing all my friends the best for the season, too,” said Antunes.

While an official program is yet to be released, the day will typically commence with a warm-up session followed by a qualifying session before three race heats to determine the day’s overall winner.
