KARTING | Van Der Walt Records Season’s Best Result at Zwartkops

This past weekend, Round 5 of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championships was hosted at the Zwartkops Kart Raceway, where Senior MAX driver Brandon van der Walt recorded his best result of the season with a determined display of driving.

After qualifying in fifth on Saturday morning, the Pretoria resident made a solid start to his opening heat. After taking up third, Van der Walt quicky made up another place before taking the chequered flag comfortably for his best result of the season.

The WORR Motorsport driver nealry repeated the feat in Heat 2, finishing in a close third before a post-race penalty saw him lose two positions and be classified fifth. Still brimming with confidence after his pace throughout the day, Van der Walt who started the final heat in third, made another good start to move into second, where he remained for the rest of the race.

"I'm pretty chuffed with the results this weekend. It's been coming for a while and to finally step onto the podium is just reward for the hard work the team and I have put in. Thank you to everyone for their support and to the team. Now that I have this monkey off my back I want to push for that maiden victory," said Van der Walt.

The next championship round is scheduled for 17 August at Vereeniging Kart Circuit.
