KARTING | Double Runner-Up Finish Sees De Wet Take Third in Vereeniging

A double podium finish at the weekend's sixth round of the Northern Regions Rotax Kart Championships saw Micro MAX rookie Luhan de Wet claim third place overall and remain on course for a top-three championship finish.

On Saturday morning, Luhan finished fourth in qualifying. However, he made a strong comeback during the opening heat, gaining several positions and finishing as the runner-up. In Heat 2, he had a difficult start and got caught up in the midpack battle, ending up in seventh place. Determined to bounce back, the Xtreme Racing Team driver delivered another impressive performance, finishing second and claiming third place.

"Third was not really where I wanted to finish today, but it's still way better than not finishing at all. Despite a challenging qualifying, I found some rhythm to finish second in two heats. We still need to find a few tenths before the national, so we'll be working hard until then," said Luhan.

While the penultimate round of the regional competition is scheduled for 19 October, Luhan will take on the nation's best in the final round of the South African Rotax MAX Challenge on 30-31 August at Zwartkops Kart Raceway.
